DCH/IPPC New Office Opening!!!
The new DCH / IPPC Head Office at Mons Road, Westmead was officially opened on 2nd July 2015.
Dr Glen Farrow, Director of Clinical Governance at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, officiated at this memorable event, sharing his experiences in the Army as a young doctor several years ago and endorsing the benefits of this program. The cutting of the ribbon by Dr Glen Farrow signified a time of celebration and culmination of a lot of hard work and perseverance by many of our past and present staff of DCH / IPPC as well as supporters. Our Executive Principal, Adjunct A/P Kathryn Currow acknowledged everyone’s support and thanked them for their contribution to DCH / IPPC over the years.
Ms Kerrie Kenton (Representative of the Darug People) gave a very moving “welcome to country” speech in Darug language, then translated into English, to help each one of us understand the importance of local Aboriginal culture and history and respectfully recognise that we are on Aboriginal land. Other guests present at the opening ceremony were representatives of various departments within the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, our donors – Mr and Mrs Commerford, kind supporters and colleagues.
Our friendly team enjoy the new space and feel greatly valued and supported! The move was more than just a change of address, it has given significant momentum to all our team as we represent the values of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network: care, advocacy, research and, our special focus, education to improve the health and wellbeing of children. They will use the opportunity afforded by this new environment to work even more effectively and efficiently to support our Participants, Webcast Presenters, Alumni and Tutors and to promote our course nationally and internationally to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals treating children and young people.
It was great to celebrate the occasion with an informal afternoon tea and capture memories (see photo). Thank you to all those who came and graced the occasion. We will welcome a visit at another time by all who were unable to attend and we appreciate their good wishes for future success of DCH / IPPC.
